Age requirement: why your account was locked

Last updated on Aug 07, 2026

To use StudyStream you must be 16 or older. If the date of birth on an account shows an age under 16 — whether it was entered at signup or changed later — the account is automatically locked, and you'll see a message like "Your account has been temporarily locked until you turn 16."

I entered my date of birth wrong

It happens a lot — a slip in the year, or a test value entered quickly. Because the lock is about your age, we need some verification before we can correct it. Email our moderation team at webapp.reporting@studystream.live from the email linked to your account with:

  • The correct date of birth, and
  • Something that indicates your age — for example a screenshot of a school/university document showing your first name and year of birth. Please censor all other personal information before sending; that's all we need.

Once verified, the team will correct your date of birth and unlock the account.

If the locked account has an active subscription, mention it — locked accounts can't reach the cancel button, and we'll stop the billing for you (Google Play subscriptions you can always cancel yourself in the Play Store).

I'm under 16

We're sorry — StudyStream isn't available to you just yet. Your account and data stay safe, and it will unlock automatically when the date of birth on the account reaches 16: just log in again on or after that day. We'd love to see you then!

Why so strict?

Deliberately entering a false date of birth to bypass the age check is against our Terms of Service, and the lock protects both younger visitors and our community. The moderation team reviews every appeal individually.

Tips to avoid this

  • Double-check your date of birth at signup — it's confirmed with a dialog for exactly this reason.
  • A date of birth can't be changed in the app once it's set — if yours is wrong, contact the moderation team as described above.
